Conversion is inspired by a conversion chart from a 1980 guide by Lou Sullivan, created to help trans and gender-nonconforming people navigate a world that gave them no instructions. Before the internet, this is how our community survived, by sharing hard-won knowledg, photocopied, passed hand to hand. Something as simple as knowing what size to buy could mean safety, dignity, or the difference between being seen and being exposed. This piece honors that care: the mundane, radical labor of helping each other live.
